
Anagni is a beautiful medieval village that rises in the hills of the the Roman Campagna in the Lazio region of Italy. Anagni is also known as the city of the popes, since many popes were born there and it has historically been a papal residence. The medieval town center is made up of elegant and austere buildings, Romanesque churches, steeples, loggias and piazzas, including the Palace of Boniface VIII, the town hall, the house Barnekow and numerous churches, including the town Cathedral, whose crypt and splendid frescoes is one of the most interesting examples of thirteenth century Italian painting. In modern times, Anagni has established itself as a commercial and industrial center.
